Ford ranked No. 1 for quality at Biener Ford

Ford Just Ranked No. 1 for Quality. Here Is What That Means If You Buy From Biener Ford.

Ford was named the number one mainstream brand for initial quality in the 2026 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, the highest ranking among all mainstream brands for the first time in 16 years. The F-150, F-Series Super Duty, and Mustang each ranked first in their respective segments for the second consecutive year. Seven of Ford’s ten tested models placed in the top three of their segments, the highest total of any automaker in the study.

What the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study Actually Measures

The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study surveys new vehicle owners 90 days after purchase and asks them to report any problems they experienced. The fewer problems reported per 100 vehicles, the better the score. Ford improved by 41 fewer problems per 100 vehicles compared to the prior year, the largest year-over-year improvement among all mainstream brands. The brand climbed from 16th in 2023 to first among mainstream brands in 2026.

That improvement did not happen by accident. Ford reorganized its entire engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality operations under a single unified structure in 2023, the first time those four functions had been brought together under one leadership umbrella. The company hired roughly 300 veteran engineers to run mandatory weekly design reviews, catching potential issues before they reached production. Ford teams also went directly onto supplier plant floors to identify and fix risks, driving a 30 percent reduction in launch-related issues year over year. Software quality assurance was overhauled from the ground up, with new code now stress-tested through hundreds of thousands of automated scenarios before it ever reaches a vehicle.

The result is a lineup that is measurably better built than it was three years ago, validated by an independent third party rather than Ford’s own marketing.

The Part J.D. Power Also Found Worth Noting

The single biggest category of complaints in the Initial Quality Study, year after year, is infotainment systems. This is true across the industry, not just Ford. New vehicles now carry more technology than most owners have ever managed in a car before. Wireless CarPlay, driver assistance features, SYNC 4 controls, BlueCruise settings, digital instrument clusters, and multiple connected services all need to be understood to be useful. When they are not understood, owners report them as problems, even when the systems are working exactly as designed.

This is where the buying experience at the dealership matters as much as the vehicle itself. A well-built truck that leaves the lot with an owner who does not know how to set up their phone connection, adjust the driver assistance settings, or navigate the digital cluster is a missed opportunity for both sides. The technology is not the problem. The handoff is.

What Biener Ford Does Differently

We are proud to represent a brand that just earned the top quality ranking among mainstream automakers. We also know that the number on a J.D. Power scorecard is only meaningful if it translates into an ownership experience that actually feels that way.

That starts at delivery. Every customer who buys a vehicle at Biener Ford gets time with our team to walk through the features that matter most for how they plan to use the vehicle. SYNC 4 setup, BlueCruise activation, Co-Pilot360 calibration, trailer integration on the F-150, phone pairing, and any other technology the customer wants to understand before they drive off the lot. We do not hand over the keys and wave goodbye.

If you bought a Ford elsewhere and have questions about your technology features, our service team can help with that too. Getting the most out of your vehicle does not require starting over. It just requires knowing where to look.

What This Means If You Are Shopping Right Now

The 2026 F-150, Explorer, Expedition, Escape, Maverick, and Mustang are all part of the lineup that drove Ford to the top of the 2026 J.D. Power rankings. If you have been considering a Ford and had any hesitation about quality based on older impressions of the brand, the independent data now says something different. Ford climbed from 16th to first among mainstream brands in three years. The vehicles available on our lot today are the ones that earned that ranking.
